I haven't posted in a while, this summer has turned out to be pretty busy!
I haven't had time to do much planning, however I will be look at my wedding dress in the next month of so, and I couldn't be more excited! Every girls dream is to find that perfect dress, and I can't wait until I find the perfect one. I've been watching shows like Say Yes to the Dress whenever I'm alone, (mostly because James hates them and think they're boring :P). But they just get me excited! They also give unrealistic expectations though. I can't imagine spending over five grand on a dress! That's just ridiculous!
My dress budget doesn't have a limit, however expensive is not an option. I don't think I'll ever understand the need to spend so much money on some fabric you'll wear for one day, no matter how nice it looks.
For those of you wondering what style I'm looking for, I'm either going to get a mermaid/trumpet, or A-Line gown, hopefully with a sweetheart neckline. I don't want something elaborate, I don't think wearing a dress that will eat me is attractive, just saying :)

Finally Posting Again! : 296 Days!
So I haven't had a chance to post... I finally went back to work after breaking my arm, and haven't had a chance to get to post! Any way though a few updates! (If they can even be called that) Right now I'm trying to find a wedding location, and luckily James and I have some wonderful friends helping us find a place we can afford! Also if all goes as planned, I think I might have the cake picked out!
Today I'm working on the guest list, please please pleaseeeee don't get offended if you aren't invited. We're trying to limit the wedding to close friends and family, we'd love to invite everyone, but unfortunately that's not realistic. Making a guest list is probably the hardest part of this wedding, especially at our age since we still have friends from high school/college.... I mean it will all work out, but it'll be difficult!
May 4th really could come quick enough!

Thursday Thoughts : 310 Days
“It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.”
I've had quite a few people come up to me since getting engaged and advising me that I'm way to young to marry... ya know, I might be young, however I don't think marriage is about age... sure 8yr olds shouldn't be running off to get married, but once you hit legal age, marriage shouldn't be this unheard of thing, that is almost a cultural taboo.
Society has this mindset where they want to keep people from responsibility as long as possible.... Society has this mindset if you aren't making 60 grand a year marriage is impossible... Society has this mindset that you'll be more ready at 30 than 18.... no matter what, no one is fully prepared for marriage, regardless of the age. Marriage is full of surprises. I know couples who got married after years of living together, and there was still so much to learn.
Then there's maintaining purity, I know not everyone is adamant about this in their relationship, but if you know you're getting married, why rock the boat, and draw out the temptation. The longer you date the easier it is to fall into sexual sin, and lust. Now don't get me wrong, this shouldn't be the main reason for marriage, but Paul even says if you are unable to control yourself, it's better to marry.
Now some people aren't ready to get married, some people who are both in college might have a bit of trouble, and waiting till after college is perfect;y acceptable. Some people aren't in a place emotionally, or spiritually where marriage is realistic, however you should work to get to the place where you are able to.
Last but not least, while James and I began contemplating marriage we decided to do a little research and studying.... and we came across a book, 'Young and in Love,' I definitely suggest you pick it up for a few dollars on amazon if you have any intentions of marrying young or becoming engaged.

Wedding Wednesday : 311 Days
Wedding Wednesday on a wedding blog? ...Yeah I'm not too sure either! I suppose on Wednesdays I'll start posting neat ideas for my wedding, or possibly even for your own!
I may have never given much thought to my wedding, but as a girl who loves writing, I always thought exchanging love letters the morning/day of the wedding would be really neat. There's no outline I can give of what to write, if you choose to do this make it come from your heart not some wedding blog online.
Not only is this important, but praying with him before the wedding is also important to me. I know tradition says you can't let the groom see you, and he doesn't have to! Each of you stand on one side of a door and hold hands, you could even stand back to back if you trust yourselves enough not to cheat! Either way, I know that moment alone before my wedding will be important! It's a good thing to follow up the letter exchange with!
Now if you're opposed to the above idea, here's something that isn't traditional, yet it doesn't involve seeing/talking to/or hearing the groom before the wedding. The picture above can either be a first fight box, or first anniversary box. The morning of the wedding you write each other a letter, then during the ceremony you set apart a time to put the letters in the box, possibly with a bottle of wine... in James and I's case, sparkling juice ;) But on your first anniversary, first fight, or whatever occasion you choose you open up the box and finally read the letters and share a drink.
I take no credit at all for this box idea, I've found it on a few sites like interest, or some blogs I follow, still a neat idea that I wanted to share though! It can be used as an alternate for unity sand, or a unity candle or just a whole separate portion of the ceremony!
I'm thinking next Wednesday might cover wedding cake ideas, or how to decorate your own cake :) Guess we'll see!

God Created Marriage : 312 Days
“God created marriage. No government subcommittee envisioned it. No social organization developed it. Marriage was conceived and born in the mind of God.” ~ Max Lucado
I was on pinterest the other day while James and I were thinking about wedding plans... okay I was thinking about wedding plans, he was on his phone... either way though this idea caught his eye as well. If there is one thing I want at our wedding it's to make it glorify God and bring Him honor, and I think even simple things like this will do just that.
The picture above is a Bible that you have your guests circle a verse or write a note in for you, and I think that's awesome! I mean I'm usually the one writing in Bibles for my friends or notes for myself, so this would just be such a blessing at our wedding!
Now we don't have many final details set in stone, but this is a must-have, and is definitely going to happen. God really blessed us bringing us together and not only do I want to celebrate our marriage on the wedding day, I want it to be worship and make God smile.

Let the Planning Begin : 313 Days
Ya know, it's funny, as a kid I planned everything days, months, years in advanced.. yet I never gave much thought to my wedding. Here's to almost 19 years of catching up!
So of course news of James and I's engagement isn't new, however this blog is! I've been wanting to start it so I could create a place for people to stay updated, and.... I just wanted to make it :) James and I are planning our wedding for May 4th of next year, and are beyond excited! I still have everything to do, and a budget of less than two grand (luckily for us we're simple and don't need an expensive wedding to be happy). Any advice, prayers, anything is more than welcome (after all.... this is all new for me).
This blog isn't halfway done. In all honesty, I'm not sure if those colors will be the wedding colors, regardless I'll do my best to keep it updated :)
Love you guys <3
